I am happy to write on behalf of Jorida Petritaj. As her English Language Learner’s teacher for the past three years, I have gotten to know her well, and can appreciate what an extraordinary person she is. Jorida has worked very hard these past three years I have known her, and I have seen her grow not only in her English proficiency, but in her academics across the board. She has set high standards for herself, and maintains these standards consistently throughout high school. She has earned the respect of teachers and peers. Jorida came to Affton High School her freshmen year of high school from Albania, and in spite of her limited English proficiency has excelled in each of her classes, and has chosen to take honors classes as well. She works very hard, and helps other ESOL students who are new to Affton. In spite of all of the difficulties that a high school student endures both socially, and academically, Jorida has matured and made choices that have given her excellent opportunities in the Affton community. As an outstanding citizen, I have seen her assist other students during the school year. She genuinely has a desire to see others learn when they are struggling. Her empathy is evident in the way she engages with other students. She has worked during her high school years to help her family. Her family made the decision to come to America so Jorida and her little brother Gledi would have greater academic opportunities. Jorida has taken full advantage of this gift by following her dream of working in the pharmaceutical field by attending South County Technical’s Pharmacy School. Jorida will be an asset to any program that she attends. She will thrive in any setting: academically, socially, and professionally. William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a compelling story filled with suffering, revenge, and manipulation. While these are all aspects that come together to create a memorable and thought-provoking play, they also result in the downfall of various characters. With these unfortunate individuals, Shakespeare shows that it is not necessarily one’s actions, but their situation that decides whether they lose it all. In this play, the victims’ suffering is not their own doing, but instead it is caused by the situations they were manipulated into by other individuals. Ophelia, Gertrude, and even Hamlet himself are all victims that have these sorts of situations imposed on them by characters who mean only to benefit themselves. The first time they meet Hamlet acts so out of hand that Ophelia claims that Hamlet acted â€Å"as if he had been loose’d out of hell† (II. i. 93). Moreover, Hamlet persists to play with her emotions when he tells â€Å"get thee to a nunnery† (III. i. 131), and it is all done to present a believable madness. It is evident that Hamlet’s discarding of Ophelia likely plays a role in her madness throughout her singing: Quoth she ‘Before you tumbled me, You promised me to wed He answers: ‘So would I’a done, by younder sun, An thou hadst not come to my bed’ (IV. v. 67-71). Drug addiction can be defined as the overwhelming involvement of drugs that impacts an individuals daily life functioning. To help better understand drug addiction I chose to give up adding additional salt to my food for 30 days. Prior to the project I figured I would miss the taste of salt being added to my food, but I figured it would be easy. To my surprise it was not as easy as I entailed. Starting from week one I unconsciously went to grab salt numerous times, because grabbing the salt, pepper, and Old Bay is part of my ritual when I am going to sit down to eat. Also, during week two I noticed I was shifting my behavior to avoid certain foods. In fact, I caught myself skipping some meals because I no longer found the same joy in eating as I use to. That alone would be surprising to both my friends and family, because I love food. People have made jokes before that the way to my heart is to take me out to somewhere where I can eat. As well as, I do see the importance of eating a suffice breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Actually due to a lack of eating, I found myself being overly tired, and often times having to take a nap after class and sometimes a second nap. The director also does not give the members of the Brotherhood an opportunity to explain their actions to make Mohammed as President. Although the revolutionaries look at the brotherhood as betrayers to social justice, they still do not support the assaults on them (Scott, 2013). They seem to understand that they snatched away a democratic process and no Islam should be assaulted during the protests. Islam plays a major role in ensuring that all the people in the society are served with equity. The main actors in the movie indicator that the whole electoral process was biased and led to a new era of dictatorship. All the revolutionaries are betrayed yet they were fighting together with a common goal hence, brotherhood endorses their own President, Mubarak Morsi. The Egyptians protested the President elect because, it felt like a betrayal to the nation (Fisher, 2014). Secondly, the President is a dictator who exploits the nations resources. The President is not considered a statesman worthy of taking risks for his country. As per the people, they need the President who is optimistic and ready to take risks (Scott, 2013). In the nation, the President is deposed by the people since he is a dictator plunging the country into civil starvation and corruption. In the movie, there is a cruel use of the military to oppress the protesters fighting for their rights. Though this same military had stood with people it is clear that they do not have passion for the people when given orders. In the movie, there is minimal representation of feminism. Though, they match together with the Youths they are not given that attention. The filmmaker is a lady who is not referred to by her first name Aida El Kashef (Scott, 2013). Other women like Bothaina Kamel, the first female candidate for the presidency and the founder of No military trials campaign do not have any title in the movie.
